Search "buy lanterns Phu Quoc" and you will not find much. There is no lantern quarter here, no strip of stalls stringing them overhead the way Hoi An does. Phu Quoc is an island built for beaches and seafood, not bamboo weaving.
That does not mean you cannot get real ones. We make traditional bamboo-and-silk lanterns in Ho Chi Minh City and ship them across the country — usually the next day to the mainland, with an extra day or two once your order crosses the water to the island.
Phu Quoc also runs a distinct wet season, roughly July through October, when afternoon downpours and rougher ferry crossings are routine rather than exceptional. It rarely stops deliveries outright, but it is worth building an extra day or two of buffer into your order if you are travelling during that stretch and have a fixed date in mind, whether that is a checkout day or an event.
Being honest about it, because it changes how you should shop.
Phu Quoc grew around fishing, pearl farms and, more recently, resorts. Lantern-making is a mainland craft — Hoi An mostly, some workshops in Ho Chi Minh City — and none of it relocated out to the island. Walk the streets around Duong Dong and you will find plenty of souvenir stalls, but a genuine bamboo-and-silk lantern is rare among them.
What you will find at Duong Dong night market is seafood, fruit, and a fair bit of beachwear. Worth a wander after sunset regardless — just do not expect the lantern strip you may have seen photos of from Hoi An. It is a different island, a different trade.
So the honest answer to "where do I buy lanterns in Phu Quoc" is: you order them from a workshop and have them shipped in. That is not a downside, either — it means you choose exact shape, colour and size instead of taking what happens to be on a shelf.
The island itself is large enough to have real internal distances — Duong Dong town, the airport, Long Beach and the northern national park area are not all a short walk from each other — so once a package lands, the last-mile delivery to your specific resort or villa still takes a bit of local coordination. It is normal, not a sign anything has gone wrong.
Warm light, humid air, open-air structures — the fit is closer than it looks.
A lot of Phu Quoc accommodation is built open — thatched roofs, timber beams, verandas facing the sea near Long Beach. Silk lanterns were designed for exactly that kind of space centuries ago: soft light that does not glare, a shape that reads as warm rather than harsh once the sun goes down.
Lighting for restaurants, cafes and hotels is a large part of what we make lanterns for — a string of matching lanterns along a pool deck or restaurant terrace does more for the atmosphere than most lighting fixtures, and costs a fraction as much. For a personal trip, one or two lanterns make a good centrepiece for a rented villa balcony, or simply travel home with you as the best souvenir of the whole holiday.
Real workshop prices, not a vague "from" figure.
Plain silk shapes — Round, Inverted-garlic, Banh U and Diamond — all share the same size ladder, from a 10 cm travel piece up to a full one-metre statement lantern:
Flying-saucer shapes cost a little more per size: 120,000 VND at 30 cm, 150,000 VND at 35 cm, 160,000 VND at 40 cm, 170,000 VND at 45 cm and 270,000 VND at 60 cm. Umbrella shapes run 140,000 VND at 30 cm, 160,000 VND at 35 cm, 180,000 VND at 40 cm, 210,000 VND at 45 cm and 320,000 VND at 60 cm.
Hand-painted pieces sit higher again — 160,000 VND at 30 cm, 220,000 VND at 35 cm, 240,000 VND at 40 cm, 300,000 VND at 45 cm, 500,000 VND at 60 cm, up to 1,800,000 VND for a hand-painted full metre. Across the whole range that works out to roughly 1–40 USD depending on size and finish.
Match the size to the space before you order — cheaper than a re-order once it is hanging.
Phu Quoc accommodation ranges from a small rented balcony to a full beachfront restaurant deck, and the size that works for one will look wrong on the other.

Why Phu Quoc adds a day or two that mainland cities do not.
Everything we ship leaves Ho Chi Minh City the same way regardless of destination — flat-packed, addressed, handed to a domestic courier. What changes for Phu Quoc is the last leg: cargo has to cross by ferry or air freight rather than simply continuing by road, which is the source of the extra day or two, not anything about the lantern itself.

A word on timing
We cannot promise a guaranteed same-day delivery to the island — the extra transit leg makes that unrealistic. Order a few days ahead of when you want it hanging and you will be fine.
The same fold-flat trick that got it to the island works in reverse.
Every lantern we make collapses flat by design — press the top ring gently inward and it drops to roughly the size of a dinner plate. That is thin enough to slide between clothes in checked luggage, which matters if you are flying out of Phu Quoc International with limited space.

Is there a lantern shop or market on Phu Quoc island?
Not a dedicated one. Phu Quoc does not have a lantern-making tradition or a lantern street like Hoi An. Duong Dong night market sells mostly seafood and souvenirs. Ordering from a mainland workshop and having it delivered is the practical route.
How long does lantern delivery to Phu Quoc take?
Nationwide delivery from Ho Chi Minh City usually takes 1 to 3 days. Because Phu Quoc is an island, expect an extra day or two on top of that for the final leg. Order ahead if you have a specific date in mind.
Can lanterns be delivered straight to a Phu Quoc resort or villa?
Yes. Give us the property name and your room or villa number when you message us on WhatsApp, and we address the package to reception the same way we would for any hotel order.
Do lanterns fit in a suitcase for the flight back?

A villa balcony usually suits 30–40 cm. A beach bar counter or entrance reads well at 45–60 cm. For a restaurant terrace or lobby, 70 cm and up carries the space, often strung as a matching row.
